President’s
Message- Nahid Casazza
The Importance of Peer Networking
Peer networking groups provide you with an opportunity to develop long-term relationships with your professional counterparts. This is especially important in a professional service business like coaching or consulting where the product being sold is time spent with YOU. Your time is limited, so once you get past the initial hurdles of building a client base, you will notice that some of your projects take more time than you have to give. There are two ways to handle this:
| 1. |
Get more selective about who you take and refer the business you can’t or don’t want to handle to a respected peer
You can’t refer business to others for long before the energy of reciprocity sets in, and they put extra energy into sending good referrals your way. If you dedicate yourself to building a solid referral network, you can build your business to the point where all your clients come from referrals, and networking is your only marketing tool. |
| 2. |
Continue to grow by pulling together teams of peers to handle assignments that require more knowledge and resources.
If you choose to take on larger assignments and partner with other coaches, even more opportunities open up. Large profitable projects can feed you and your peer team for several months to several years at a time, and it really only takes one or two big clients per year to keep the momentum going.
Many people get impatient for these kind of results… |

1.
What do you enjoy about coaching?
What I enjoy about coaching is that it comes as natural as
breathing and propels my passion for helping others connect with
themselves to achieve the success they desire.
2.
How did you get started as a career coach?
I have been a self-proclaimed coach from as far as I can
remember. My coaching ability truly manifested when I began my
Information Technology Consulting career with Electronic Data
Systems (EDS). I was focused, successful and happy. These
attributes brought about a desire to open up to close friends
and colleagues to help them develop and execute plans to pursue
career fulfillment. Before I knew it people were being referred
to me for assistance. I provided services ranging from interview
preparation to transitioning individuals into careers that
better aligned with their interest and passion.
3.
Do you have a specialty area?
My coaching specialization is in the area of career transition.
Career transition involves working with people to believe it is
“OK” to explore avenues that can truly align with their career
passions no matter how different from their past or immediate
job experiences. Throughout my professional career I have
constantly encountered people that are not getting true
satisfaction from their careers. Some feel trapped because of
family influence, educational investments or have just given up
on basic expectations such as enjoyment of career choices. After
all, we invest quite a significant amount of our prime
productive hours each week in our careers. My specialty is
getting people to see the possibilities available and allowing
themselves to explore them.
4.
How would a good friend describe you?
This is a good question because I recently engaged some of my
associates with this question. The consistent adjectives that
resonated from the respondents were honest, humble, motivating,
confident, intelligent, caring, good listener and positive. I
think most of my friends would surmise their assessments into a
statement like “Emily is a straight shooting realist”. I can be
candid and inspiring in the same conversation.
5.
Is there something in your life that inspired you to be a coach?
What inspired me to make coaching my primary vocation is when my
friends and colleagues continued to express their appreciation
of how I impacted their careers. I was impacting their lives by
assisting them with movement towards aligning their careers with
their true interest and passion. Through introspection, I
concluded that I have the ability to engage and energize
individuals. My personal interest and passion is realized when I
can work with others to make career breakthroughs in a balanced
way.
