Authenticity and Letting Go –Two Themes of Success
For those of you who missed it, Michelle Schubnel put on an amazing performance last week, with art, music, and some simply powerful exercises to help us master our marketing. My gem was a confirmation of the two themes I seem to see everywhere these days:
- Authenticity – You sell yourself most powerfully when you put forth exactly who you are.
- Letting Go – When you let go of having to be everything to everyone, and allow people to pigeonhole you, you will begin to get referrals.
I’ve also seen these two themes emerge as key to successful leadership. Authentic leaders communicate openly to their constituents, creating an environment of trust. They also let go of having to have all the answers, creating an environment of shared responsibility.
And don’t these two themes emerge as well in successful coaching? Letting go of the need for your client to succeed is, paradoxically, one of the most important precursors to a successful coach / client relationship. And, as you become more and more authentic in your interactions with your clients, a certain magic seeps into the relationship. It’s not something you can fake or force or rush, but as it develops, clients thrive by leaps and bounds. This is part of what ICF calls “coaching presence”, one of the key skills that makes master coaches masters. I am SO excited to have Michael Stratford and Tom Stone with us for our May meeting to teach us about it.
If you want to capture a vision of your true potential as a coach, you will not want to miss this next meeting. I’m looking forward to seeing YOU there!!
Sincerely,
Nahid Casazza

Presented by: Michael Stratford MCC and Tom Stone, founder of Great Life Technologies
In this session, Tom and Michael will address what Thomas Leonard stated is the Key to ANY successful business...that is "If you want to grow your business grow yourself". Great coaches attract great business and great beings make great coaches. It's not what you add that affects your business it's what you subtract. In an experience for all present, we demonstrate a tool for Alchemy on your personal Attraction magnet in order to have your business be a natural expression of who you are instead of simply what you do and work hard at. Bring something you really want to have moved that's affecting your business.
Headliner Event:
6:30 - 8:30pm
Coaching Presence: the Absence of "You" in the Conversation
Presented by: Michael Stratford MCC and Tom Stone, founder of Great Life Technologies
After many years of evaluating coaches for certification for 3 different organizations, and failing many of the applicants, the one domino that sets ALL the rest in motion is Coaching Presence. There are 12 Killers of Powerful Coaching presence and we'll unmask the three ringleaders, inform you about the rest of their gang, and give you an experience about what to do with at least one of them.

Coaches Toolbox
Do you speak confidently about you as a coach and your coaching business?
Here’s a tool to help clarify your message:
*Share Your Compelling Message
- “I am a ________________coach.
(The type of coach you are, ie: life coach, executive coach, career coach, ADD coach, etc.)
- I work with ________________.
(Who you coach, your ideal client, ie: recently divorced women, small business owners, people in career transition, new parents, etc..)
- who________________ .“
(The result they desire or a specific problem they have.)
- “My specialty is ________________.”
Use – if necessary – to clarify your ideal client or area of expertise.)
Determine next step: Offering a complimentary coaching consultation, ask if they know anyone who fits your target market, invite person to subscribe to your newsletter/mailing list, etc.
*Credit to Michelle Schubnel (Coach & Grow Rich) for facilitating this exercise during our March meeting.

Suffer From Coach Burnout? Not Me!
Burnout: Fatigue, frustration, or apathy resulting from prolonged stress, overwork, or intense activity, without compensating fun or time for reflection.
We motivate others to be all they can be, to live their dreams, exercise, eat well, follow career paths with passion, live with intention, and yet what happens when we experience “coach burnout”? Here’s a quick self inventory of your personal and business life, and some suggestions for changes.
These signals sound familiar?…

1. Do you have a specialty area?
The area that I am most comfortable with is coaching business people. With more than 30 years experience and having started and run 3 of my own companies I feel that I understand what my clients are going through. Many of my clients are CEOs and the most common assignment for me is to coach teams.
2. What’s the major strategy you use to obtain clients?
I create advisory boards for CEOs and for Key executives that meet once a month for a half-day to help each other with their problems. As the facilitator for these forums I become aware of both their key issues and earn the right to be considered their trusted advisor This then leads to coaching either the individual or to coaching personnel within their company or department.
3. How has your life changed since you started coaching?
I have become a better, not perfect, listener. My objectives have moved away from things to more meaningful relationships.”
4. What do you enjoy most about coaching?
I enjoy the opportunity to meet new people and learn about their lives and businesses. The opportunity to have in depth conversations about real issues and to see the changes that I can help people make in their lives is the ultimate reward.
5. Describe a rewarding experience you have had in your business.
I had the opportunity to coach a successful business owner who was not happy or fulfilled in his career. He discovered that his real desire in life was to work with children by teaching them how to play chess. He ultimately sold his business and started a new career doing just that
