Hello Coaches!
I’m going to share with you our newest
format for our two programs and some highlights from the monthly
ICF Chapter Leader call.
Here comes March, our third month of 2006
and our lineup is exciting. If you remember, your 2006 Board
of Directors met twice in 4-hour retreats and created a vision
for the ICF-OC Chapter participants to live into this year.
Good work 2006 Board! Thank you for your commitment to our
profession.

USING ASSESSMENTS TO FAST-TRACK YOUR
CLIENTS TO SELF-MASTERY
Presented by: Carly Anderson, MCC
Assessments are a great way to find out a
lot about a client in a very short period of time. In fact,
they can greatly fast-track your coaching effectiveness, thereby
adding more value to the coaching relationship. The client
benefits by getting to know more about their specific strengths
as well as behaviors, attitudes and approaches in which they
could increase their competency. Assessments can help people
to be happier with who they are, as well as know exactly what
to do in order to be more productive and effective. They can
also be a great entry point into an organization. In this
presentation, we'll be doing some hands-on work with assessments,
in the model of a coaching session, rather than a consultative
session.
You'll come away from this presentation
with a clearer understanding of:
- How to prepare a client to answer an assessment
so they get the most from the experience
- The upside and downside of using assessments
- What to focus on in the assessment debrief
and coaching for greatest impact
- How to work with the client to create
a customized action plan to inspire them to greater self-mastery
We'll be engaging with the core competencies
of ethical guidelines, using active listening and powerful
questioning, giving perspective and direct communication,
as well as practicing our ability to facilitate learning and
results through creating awareness and designing actions.

Are You Retired Already?
by Bradley Ann Morgan
We’ve all heard the expression, “That
person or they have retired in place.” When do you usually
hear this and what does this statement really mean? All of
us have our own interpretation of this phrase; possibly meaning
that this individual is doing no more than necessary to satisfy
the job requirements. Or, it could mean that they have lost
their creativeness and are resigned that everything will stay
as status quo.
