Chapter Meeting Thursday, January 12th
Business
Solution Workshop
5:00 - 6:00pm
UNDERSTANDING NLP (NEUROLINGUISTIC
PROGRAMMING)
Presented by: Christine Edick
Do you notice that it is easier to communicate
with some people and more challenging with others? We communicate
with people all day long (whether verbal or in writing) and
being aware of the different learning styles is helpful when
negotiating, coaching, influencing, understanding, and selling
others. Discover the gifts and challenges of each style. With
this awareness you will find out why your clients communicate
the way they do, why your wife/husband/partner/children don’t
seem to listen to you, understand the differences and ultimately
enjoy the ability to be able to celebrate those differences.
This evening promises to be very interactive, educational,
and fun!
Headliner Event:
6:00 - 8:30pm
ARE YOU ENJOYING A HOBBY, OR RUNNING
A BUSINESS?
Presented by: Joe Schneider
During the meeting, through interactive exercise,
you will answer, or at least be confronted by, answers to
these (and other) questions.
- Are you enjoying a hobby, or running a
business?
- Do I “know” what success is?
- Are you a Shark or a spawning Salmon?
In business, there are no friends, just enemies (Salmon
to eat) and allies (Shark to swim with).
- Do you have a real plan for success that
you are passionate about, or do you have a sad story to
tell?
- Is a small slice from a big pie better
than 100 crumbs?
- Do I have Goals and/or Objectives? They
are not the same.
- What is your Value Proposition?
You should walk away with thoughts on.
- Do I want to be successful, am I actually,
“running a business”.
- Do I have the “guts, desire, and
passion” to be successful?
- Do I know how, and do I have a “plan”
to be successful.

Is Your Future Attainable?
Oh, the New Year! It’s exciting to
walk into another year with new challenges, new skills acquired
from the previous year and possibly, new friends. As is customary
in any new year’s planning, many of us make personal
and professional resolutions for the future that ultimately
function as internal promises. In fact, promises are the vehicles
that can truly create the future. Sadly, many of these resolutions
go unfulfilled. Subsequently, we beat ourselves up for these
unfulfilled resolutions such as, quitting smoking, losing
weight, staying with a new exercise regimen, continuing professional
education, and/or spending more time with the family.
Promises are not only the commitments we
make to ourselves for future achievement but how we coordinate
actions with others. If this is so, then why do many of these
promises never become reality? There are components of promises
that make them realizable, such as:
- Clarity in the initial generation and
expected steps for achievement
- True description of the final outcome
- A specified time period for fulfillment
- Competency in skills of those to be involved
for complete fulfillment
- Trust and sincerity on the part of all
involved
- Flexibility along the road to achievement
If you have made promises to yourself or
others for the New Year, examine them for practicable achievement
with these questions:
- How will this resolution (promise) bring
meaningful change to my life?
- Are there external resources you will
need to help achieve this objective?
- If others are involved, what competency
or skills do they need to have to help you?
- Is the time frame you’ve established
truly reasonable for your lifestyle?
- What are your fallback plans in the event
your pursuit does not proceed exactly as planned?
- If this resolution is a larger community
movement, are you certain you have the staying power for
efforts this significant?
