Now is the time to submit your nominations for the available to-be-elected Board Positions for ICF-OC in 2007.

Secretary

President-Elect, Nahid Casazza, will automatically step into her role as President for 2007.

Qualifications: To serve on the Board requires three things:

  1. That you are an ICF-OC Chapter Participant in good standing, including membership in ICF International.
  2. That you are able to attend the board meetings regularly.
  3. That you serve the goals and purpose of the ICF-OC chapter and work with other Board members and chapter leaders to serve our chapter participants.

The Board of Directors shall provide leadership in pursuit of the organizations stated goals. It shall, determine fees at organization-sponsored events, and develop and administer the policies and procedures necessary to conduct the business of the organization effectively.

BOARD POSITIONS - DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Please review the position descriptions and consider nominating yourself or someone else to the position. We've included a paragraph from each person currently holding the position so that you get a personal sense as well as official sense of the role, responsibilities and the opportunity of each position.

VICE PRESIDENT/PRESIDENT ELECT

In case of the absence or disability of the President, or at his/her request, the President Elect shall perform all of the duties of the President. The President Elect shall perform such duties and have such authority as from time to time may be assigned by the President or the Board. The President Elect normally selects a special program or leadership project to spearhead during the year and learns the role of president through observation and assisting the president.

(The President-Elect is a 3-year position: President-Elect in 2007, President in 2008 and Immediate Past President in 2009)

"The position of President Elect has not only been rewarding for me, but also a nice and gentle path to learning what I need to know to lead the organization next year. What's rewarding about moving into a leadership role for me is the ability to do things that only work within an organization. I like running a small one-person business, but the impact is more "one person at a time". Within our group I've been able to work on bigger projects that involve more people, more synergies, more impact.

Patricia and I have a standing weekly call, and it's nice to be supportive of her and get support from her on an ongoing basis while learning the ropes. I expect to work very closely with the next President-Elect as well, not just for training purposes, but for the natural support you get when you can share your goals, needs, and challenges. We have a great team and the feeling I get when we work together is not only one of excitement and intellectual challenge, but also of warmth and support. It's definitely a team worth joining!"

SECRETARY

The Secretary maintains official minutes and records of the proceedings of the Board and the Organization. The Secretary shall arrange for mailings of official correspondence. The Secretary shall also perform other duties and have such authority as shall from time to time be assigned by the President or Board. The Secretary shall maintain a binder of the Proceedings of the International Coach Federation - Orange County Chapter, and have the binder present at all meetings of the Board and membership. The binder shall include meeting agendas, minutes, policies, procedures, Board decisions, guidelines, Financial Reports and other proceedings of the Board and organization membership.

"Working on the ICF-OC Chapter leadership team has given me the opportunity to get more involved with the Mission and Vision of ICF Global as it has contributed to my growth as a professional coach. My team members are a group of inspired and enthusiastic professionals with a common goal...to make our Chapter "the" place for coaches to go for support and continuing education. As Secretary, I hear and record all of the Chapter's ideas and aspirations, as well as get to know each director position as it pertains to responsibilities and needs. I have enjoyed this role immensely and would recommend the position to any member wanting to learn more about our Chapter."

TREASURER

The Treasurer shall perform the organization's official financial transactions and keep accurate books of the organization's accounts. The Treasurer will present for the Board a Financial Report at its meetings.

"It has been my pleasure to serve as Treasurer for 2006. I have been involved in a great team of chapter leaders to create vibrant events and programs for coaches of Orange County and those interested in coaching. The specific tasks of Treasurer‹keeping the books, making payments, and creating financial reports‹have drawn on my liking for playing with numbers and given me a break from people-oriented, interpersonal interactions involved in coaching. I have also learned a lot about the business of coaching just by being around other leaders in coaching and seeing how they do things. If you like doing simple math and like keeping things organized, the position of Treasurer gives you the opportunity to do these tasks and grow as a coach as well!"
